Lena Merhej is one of the creators and dynamisers of the Lebanese magazine Samandal, a pioneer in the Arab comic scene and an indispensable piece to understand the outbreak of the sector in the last ten years. This is his first graphic novel, composed of a dozen stories about the life of his German mother in Lebanon, originally published in Samandal between 2008 and 2010. His unmistakable outline and Merhej's humor allow a new reading of Lebanese society and of the recurrent war episodes in the country's literature.
